Gamma Nu Eta Fall 2013 Professional Members
The following distinguised professional in the information technology industry was inducted as a Professional Member of Gamma Nu Eta by the Beta Chapter on Saturday, April 6, 2013:
Dr. Gregory N. Hughes
Professor of Information Technology and Web Science, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Greg Hughes is an educator and an executive with extensive experience leading a wide range of businesses and functional areas including Microelectronics, Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Product Management, Professional Services and Program Management. Dr. Hughes spent 26 years at AT&T and its successor Lucent Technologies in many capacities, most notably as Vice President for International Services and Program Management, President of the Transmission Systems Business, President of the Network Cable Systems Business and Vice President of the Microelectronics Interconnection Business. His experience spans a number of business and functional areas including R&D, manufacturing, marketing, professional services and program management. During AT&T's globalization, Mr. Hughes led AT&T's Transmission Systems Business in over 25 countries, and received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award from President Bush in 1992. As a Professor of Information Technology and Web Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Hughes teaches IT capstone and managing IT. His specialties span a number of business and functional areas including R&D, manufacturing, marketing, professional services and program management; in his research he is pursuing the latest trends in information technology, e-Business and entrepreneurship. He received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer and his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Princeton University. Dr. Hughes has played an active role in the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute community by serving as a member of the Board of Trustees and as the first Vice Provost for Information Technology, and he was the founder of the Information Technology and Web Science degree programs at RPI. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Taconic Inc, DualAlign LLC, Raritan Inc, and Blue Slate Solutions.
Gamma Nu Eta adopted the Greek letters of our name, ΓNH, in his honor.
